In land Spousal Sponsorship OWP/PR Status in Canada question

Hello,

My common-law partner and I are going through the process of sponsoring her for a PR in Canada. I am a Canadian citizen and we have been cohabiting for just over a year in Canada. On various forms they ask her current status in Canada. She was originally here on a working holiday visa, 30 days before that expired, mid april the original work permit expired, we applied to change/extend the owp into a visitor visa to give us time to apply for the PR. This was recommended by a CIC agent.

The application to extend/change the owp to a visitor visa is still processing, and we are unsure what her status is for the various forms for the sponsorship/owp. My current understanding is she is on implied status while the application to extend/change is pending.

Should we write "other" and provide a letter of explanation? or visitor and provide explanation? in said forms.

As well when applying for the OWP with the PR application, should we be paying for a new OWP or a Restoration of work permit?

Assuming you applied for visitor extension before your partner's status expired, I don't think you need to apply for restoration or pay that fee. I could be wrong, though. Make sure you pay the correct $255 for the open work permit so it isn't returned!

Do you think Other or Visitor is better suited for the forms asking for her status? My original plan was to write Other and in the box for other to write "please refer to explanation letter attached" Then supply the old work permit and screenshots of the online application for change to visitor visa.

I think this should be more better than saying visitors status as it is still being processed. Your first option sounds more good.
