In-Land Implied Status and Background Check

We've sent out our application last week. I have a few concerns I would greatly appreciate answered.

1. I've heard that the In-land implied status begins once they provide an AOR. What do I do before this period and when my visitor visa will potentially expire before I receive a response? Should I extend my stay to cover that period in between?

2. With the background check, mine being from the FBI, do they have to simply have the package arrive to one of their buildings before the expiration date or do they actually have to begin processing it? I sent our package with only a few weeks remaining on my background check.

Your implied status will start once you send an open work permit application together with your inland sponsorship, you just use the AOR email/letter in case you need proof that you indeed have implied status. You can extend your tourist visa if you want to be on the safe side. I sent my application with the police clearance expiring in a week and now I have AIP and they didn't ask for another police clearance so I think you should be fine.

But what if you don't send an Open Work Permit with the application?

I was told through multiple sources you don't need to send in one to have implied status as long as your sponsor is approved.

That's true but approval of sponsor takes 6 months, It's better if you submitted an open work permit application with the sponsorship that way they send it as soon as your sponsor is approved. The best solution I think is you apply for extension of your visitors visa, this way you are covering all bases. Just put there you have an inland sponsorship application and include the receipt.

The problem with me acquiring an Open Work Permit is that anywhere I would want to work at would have to prove that they couldn't hire any Canadian workers or those with permanent residence in Canada.

I do not have any special or remarkable skills from formal education. I am, essentially, a nobody. I never even worked before. I would have to have a potential job on the horizon, ask them to battle it out for me so that they can give me the stuff I need just so I can begin to send off an Open Work Permit, if I understand everything correctly.

It would go a lot better if I was a doctor or something.

. you can get an open work permit without any employer. It is not a permit where you have to get LMO or for jobs that Canadians cannot fill. Im pretty sure you can find a job even with cleaning or food service industry, even part time. Or I guess if you're planning to be a stay home partner I guess you wont be needing that work permit.
