Hi,

I'm sponsoring my husband in-canada and we submitted the Sponsorship Application and PR application together to CPC Vegreville on May 10, 2010. Now I don't know what to expect next. Don't I get a letter acknowledging the reciept of the application? What timeline should I expect and which processing time should I be looking at on the CIC website?

I'm confused because one says Sponsorship the other says PR and both have different times. I do know that they have to approve the sponsorship application first so does that mean I check both?

Finally, when do I get a client-id number? Because my husband will extend his stay here and we need to reference our existing sponsorship/pr application on his visa extension app.

Thanks in advance for everyone's assistance!

No letter is sent upon receipt of the application. The only way we knew it was received is because we sent it as registered mail.

Check the In Canada spousal timeline on the website: ( I am not allowed to post the link for some reason?)

cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp#sponsorship

Today they are opening applications received November 10, 2009 and processing time for sponsorship approval is 7 months.

Check both applications. Different applications, different numbers. They probably used the number on whatever document your husband used to enter Canada-student visa, work permit, etc. Sometimes you can log onto e-cas with your receipt number as well.

Our client ID numbers took 6 months. We didn't call, just waited for the letter. It took 6 months to log onto e-cas, and 2 days later we got the letter saying our applications had been opened but nothing was approved. Some people call and are told their client ID number sooner, but we tried with my husband's student ID number and the receipt number for the application payment numerous times and it took 6 months to get on...

Thank you for the response Justina...

looks like it will take at least half a year before my husband can start working... sigh...

will he be able to extend his TRV even without the client-id referenced on extension application?

Hi,

I'm going through the same thing right now. My application was received at Vegreville on 23rd November 2009, and I am the spouse that cannot work. It's mind numbing and the processing times are literally moving two days every weekly update (Yesterday updated to 15 November 2009) and they have extended the estimated processing period to 7-8 months (It was 6 months when I first applied).

I'll keep you updated on how it works for me, so that you know what to expect towards the end.

So far my processing status is...
IN PROCESS
We received your application for permanent residence on November 23, 2009.
We started processing your application on February 9, 2010.
