If you have been out of status for less than 90 days, then you should apply to restore it immediately. To my knowledge, only CBSA handles deportations, and that they would only come for you if there is a removal order. Simply being out of status is not something I would worry too much about--I've been through it, thanks to my inability to properly upload a passport, which caused me to have to apply (successfully) for restoration of status.
Then again, if you're out and about committing crimes (or are wanted by the police in Canada or elsewhere) you may eventually be removed from Canada. But really, I wouldn't worry if you're law-abiding. If you still have concerns, speak to an immigration lawyer. If you don't have money for this, you may be able to attend a legal clinic and get free legal advice.
