No, you can open the packet and send just the certificate.

FRIEND YOU NEED TO KNOW IF U HAVE FULLFILLED YOUR REQUIREMENT OF IELTS SCORES GO AHEAD OPEN THE ENVELOPE AND CELEBRATE YOUR SCORE IT IS OK THEY ACCEPT IT AS A DOCUMENT

As every one else suggested, they need the document. You can open the test result

Sealed envolope is needed for the official transcripts

Please anybody explain me " transcripts in sealed envelopes".

You need to provide transcripts for your degree courses. Transcripts are needed in sealed envolope from your universities.

In my case my univ issued a two page doc saying that I did sos and so degree as a full time student from this to this year in following subject and successfully passed this division and has all my subjects tha marks mentioned along with signature of issuer and verifier. Same was sealed in an envolope and envolope was stameped with university seal at all joints.

Thanks Ankit.

Well I live in NJ, USA. I have all my marks cards and certificates. I cant go to India now for it. So is there any other alternative?

I am pasting here the response I got from CHC regarding substitute for transcripts

Universities in India are familiar with our requirements and have not, to date, refused to issue sealed transcripts. If you are unable to obtain sealed transcripts, you may submit notarized transcripts however, they will be subject to close scrutiny and the visa officer may still require sealed transcripts.

We trust that this information will be of assistance.

u can send your original transcripts from indian uni and advise your family member of anyone who can visit yr uni, pay the necessary fee n get it back. u dont need to be in front of the uni officer to get sign.

Thanks Sharmilas.

All the documents are with me in USA. So without the originals will the university provide such documents based on information?

Yes, all the universities in India, well almost all provide a copy of your transcripts in a sealed envelope(with their seal on it) when requested and of course paying them which serves the purpose of authenticity.
