Dear All,
Another question! I filled the form to import my minivan when I completed initial immigration process. However, I could not manage to leave my job in US and did not pay RIV (Registrar of Imported Vehicle) fee. However, I called them and informed about this. The person who took the call mentioned that I pay fee when I plan to come as the vehicle should be brought for inspection after that with 15 days or so (not sure about exact time period). I am not sure when I will go to Canada permanently. I received a letter from RIV to pay fee otherwise there would be some legal action and fines etc.

I don’t want to import this vehicle right now as I am in US and need this vehicle for my daily use.

Any body else faced any problem like this? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Best regards,
SGPA

We did our landing about 3 months ago and completed the RIV on the 44th day, which was just a day before the 45 day deadline (phewwwww). As long as you notify the folks from whom you got the letter explaining that you didn't land with your van they should be ok with it. However, if you don't have your car listed on the B4 forms then they might charge you customs when you actually move in with the car.
