Hi all,

I have a 2013 vehicle that I want to bring over from the US. Does anyone have any experience on this, and know what kind of fees I can expect? Would I have to pay full taxable value from when I purchased it in 2013 or on what it’s current value is? Does anyone know the steps? Thanks!

There are several threads on the forum about this already. If you included or will include the vehicle on your "goods to follow" list when you became/become a PR, you will be able to import the car tax-free, provided it meets Canadian import requirements. The only thing you will have to pay in that case is fees to export and import your car, including an inspection once inside Canada, which adds up to a couple hundred dollars.

If your car is was not included on your goods to follow list, I believe you will have to pay taxes on the amount you paid for the car in 2013, depending on the type of car it is.
