Hello:

Can anyone help in this matter?
I want to take my car to Canada as I don’t have to pay customs because I am a new immigrant.
But I want a car with Canadian specifications.
Can I buy a car from a duty free market in Canada?
What are the other options?
How can I add it to list of to “join latter”?

Thanks,

1. As is said you have to have owned the car.
2. If you own the car, you will need clear title to import it follow the instructions here: www.riv.ca the instructions for exporting the car from the US are here: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/export_docs/motor_vehicle.xml
3. Make sure from the list at RIV that the car is importable
4. You really should check out prices in the US compared to Canada (and you don't have to pay for inspections and modifications) An example is the Honda Accord EXL V-6, US/CAN MSRP is $28555/$34990 which is $28,303US at todays exchange rate. So there won't really be any savings. Presently there is $3000 cash back in Canada, which would lower the MSRP even more.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Mine is something like $1600 a year but I didn't have a car for some time so I am classified as a new driver. Some of my friends have said they are paying down to 400 a year if they have a good record. Get a printout of your record from your insurance company and take it to an insurance broker when you come to Canada. An insurance broker will find you the lowest price.

Some provinces have a no fault insurance and then it's cheaper. I am told that means that you can't sue for money if you are hurt in an accident. You just get your medical bills and that makes the insurance cheaper for everybody. In AB we don't have that.
