I appreciate your help guys about the validity of my police certificate, which I intend to use soon for my EE application.

I am from Egypt, and I am currently a resident of Canada.
The last time I visited Egypt was in 2013, and I've got a police record in 2014 from the Egyptian embassy in Canada (so my police record now is almost one and half years old).
Is my police record still valid?

I am following the immigration rules of obtaining a police certificate for countries I previously lived in for 6 months or more (in my case Egypt), and I have got the record after I left Egypt.
But I wonder if there is something like a maximum expiry date for the police record or will it be valid indefinitely as long as I do not go back to Egypt!?

Thanks,
Ahmed

Your PCC is still valid.

Just make sure you have the right kind. Check requirements here:

For country of current residence it will be valid for 6 months from the date of issue and for any other country (jn which you resided in the past), the police certificate will be valid indefinitely provided it was obtained after you have exited the country.

Hi,
I am a Bangladeshi citizen, visited egypt back in 2010-2011 three times total of 154 days, which is less than 6 months. All my visa was tourism purpose. I am trying to obtain PCC through egypt embassy at Dhaka. They said it is not required for people went other than work purpose.

Can anyone help me to know the procedure for PCC from Egypt.

Murad

I have somewhat similar situation:

I applied for Indian PCC last year from BLS Toronto (November 2015). I have been living in Canada for last 4 years (never left the country). Can I use the same PCC or have to get a new one from BLS Toronto?

It does not highlight any expiry date.

I am hoping to get ITA in upcoming draw.

Yes you can still use the same PCC.

Just to update this thread with latest information.

I contacted BLS Office and they mentioned that PCC is valid for only 6 months, whether you left Canada or not.

If your PCC is more than 6 months old, Time to get a new one.

It doesn't matter what BLS say about the validity of the PCC, what matters is what CIC consider to be valid

For countries where you have lived for six months or more, but no longer live in, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

I agree with you.

I could be wrong. I just didn't want to take any chance with 1 year old PCC.

That's the reason, I applied for a new one.

Hi,

I face a similar situation. I am currently in Canada and I moved from the Japan. When I applied for my work permit, I was asked to submit Japanese PCC, then I obtained it on March 31, 2017. I left the Japan on April 30, 2017 and never entered Japan again. Now, my question is whether I would need a fresh PCC again from Japanese Police or the one I already submitted to CIC for my work permit is still valid?

You need a new PCC as you stayed in Japan after you obtained the previous PCC.

"If you need a police certificate from a country or territory and:

  • are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.
  • have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory."

Thanks and that make sense. Meanwhile, I obtained the PCC from my country of origin/birth in 2017 (February) and I haven't returned to home after 2014. Your highlighted statement (from CIC website) implies that I do NOT need to obtain a fresh PCC from my home country. Is not it?

Correct.
