hi guys. I'm an Australian living in Canada SK who had a 2 year work visa which ran out on Nov 22nd, in September 2015 i applied for a permanent residence through my wife as a sponser, (would have applied earlier but did not have all the documents requierd) it had not started processing close to my my work visa running out (was hoping for implied status before it ran out), so i applied for a extension visitor visa 2 weeks before my work visa ran out to extend my stay as i have a mortgage and family here, (i have stopped working) i have also recieved SINP work permit support letter and have a job approval letter through Sask immigration. my visitor visa was being processed prior to my work visa running out on the 22nd nov. so my plan is to go to the North Portal (i believe im under implied status of my visitor visa ATM?) and try establish a new work permit to keep me working while my permanent reidence application is being processed. I've been told that i will loose implied status if i leave the country, which i believe is all i have right now. can i loose implied status going to immigration through North portal?

I'm not sure it would be a big problem - if you left and for whatever reason they didn't issue the work visa, you would just have them issue you a visitor visa instead?

Implied status and leaving the country is a bigger problem if someone had a work visa that they were on implied status for (still working), visitor visa I wouldn't stress.

Just be ready to prove that you weren't working in the gap/don't intend to work on a visitor visa (maybe get your workplace to write you a letter) etc.

ok thanks. i dont actually have my visitor visa yet but its being processed. i dont plan on leaving the country for any reason in the near future, i just want to go to the portal to try re-establish a working visa this weekend if possible. could that be a problem considering my visitor visa isnt approved yet?

To apply for the new work visa at the border, you will technically have to leave the country. Take proof that you applied to change to visitor and weren't working and it should be sweet.
