Hi all,

I'm on an IEC visa that has a couple of months left. I probably won't get approved for another one because of the 18 month rule, unfortunately.

My question is, if I was to submit an application to change my status from Worker to Visitor, would "Implied Status" still apply? Since I'd be applying to change to a visitor, would I still be allowed to work while awaiting the results?

Thanks.

No. There is no implied status from worker to visitor and there is no implied status when IEC expires, as it not extendable .

Thanks for your quick answer.

If I don't have visitor status before the IEC expires, would I be able to stay in Canada as a visitor at least while waiting?

Yes, as long you apply to change conditions to a visitor before the IEC expires, you can remain in Canada, until you get the decision from Vegreville.
