Hello everyone,

I applied for PR under common law and I am on implied status. I was told that I can’t renew my OHIP card until I receive my PR and that all the medical expenses will be reimbursed once my coverage is reinstated.

I need to get an MRI done asap. Is it true that there is absolutely no way that I can’t renew my health card? If I pay to get it done, do you think that MRI expenses will be reimbursed?

Thank you for reading.

I've had ohip on and off repeatedly due to my work permit renewals taking too long. If your ohip expires, you have either 3 months or 30 days to renew it, I can't remember which one is right, but I think it's 3 months, and all costs that have occurred in the meantime will be reimbursed. If you're out for longer, you won't get anything back and you also have the three month waiting period again to even be able to renew it. You can only get in if you either have a temporary work permit, AIP or you are a landed immigrant if applying Outland.
