Hello, I am applying for permanent residence under spousal sponsorship, inbound and my status as a visitor is about to expire (august 14th).
We submitted our application by mail in May and it was confirmed submitted on May 25th, then on June 2nd my wife was accepted as a sponsor and sent an email saying that that I would receive correspondence in the next 5 days telling me how to submit my background declaration. My application updated to say that required additional documents, but no message was ever sent. We waited 11 days before we got concerned and looked online, discovering that many others where experiencing the same issue. We submitted the background declaration that day and a week later the application updated to say they required no further documents and to say "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements." Still no messages or emails of any kind. and the "Details" section of my application still says "Your action is required" which worries me because there is no information on what action I need to take. I submitted a support ticket but never heard anything back.
Its been nearly a month now with no updates and still no new messages. My first question is: is the "Your action is required" message simply a mistake? it certainly seems like it, and I definitely hope so. and my second question is how long does the review eligibility step normally last? I tried looking it up but couldn't find anyone else talking about this step.
Finally I'd like to know more about "Implied" status. Exactly one month and a day before my status as visitor expires I submitted an application online to extend my stay for another 6 months. I think I understand this pretty well:
"A temporary resident must apply to extend their period of authorized stay before it ends. If they have done so, their period of authorized stay as a temporary resident is extended by law until a decision is made [R183(5)]. Such a person is considered to have implied status as a temporary resident during that period."
I have submitted an application to extend my stay which has a conformation. Therefore I do not need to leave Canada on or before August 14th, or at all until i receive a result for my application. I guess all i really want is someone to say "Yes this is correct" to calm my nerves about it.
Thanks for all the help as always.
