Impact on CEC due to new changes

Hi All,

I am pretty confused with the new changes on Canadian immigration system, one says CEC given ranking on Express Entry while the other says the overall in take reduced for CEC, FSW and other economic class due to more refugee intake program.

Will someone be able to predict the impact based on your experience ?

you will be more enlightened following that discussion, the folks here are old CIC (pre 1 Jan 2015) and I don't think are impacted by those changes, we are more concerned about PR finalization since we have been waiting for 18+ months.

Interesting. Liberal is smarter (dumber?) than I think - JT is aiming to get as many votes as possible in 4 years of time, a lot of votes from refugees, if they indeed quickly become Canadian citizens and have voting rights. This may also explain why JM is making it easier for PR to become citizens, although I sense that they are doing so to somehow let refugees have more privileges than economic PRs.

In theory, assuming most refugee citizens will vote for Liberal, the more refugee they bring in, the better off their voting will be.

You make no sense at all you realize that?

The new rules for citizenship still give the advantage to economic PR as they will get 1 year validated prior to their PR while refugees will not. Therefore all economic classes will still get there earlier.

Second, you can't count if you think that he is buying the refugee vote for the next election...

Refugees are only arriving now, they will need to have spent 3 years in canada post PR, this will take them to the beginning of 2019 at the earliest for them to be able to apply for citizenship. Since the citizenship application takes a year to get processed, they will not be voting at the next election in October 2019.

Therefore instead of being salty and saying that refugees have it nicer than economic PRs, you should educate yourself about what it is like to be a refugee.
