Impact of holding US Green card on Canada permanent residency?

Hello all,

I have a question and wonder if you can help me:

Is there any impact of holding US Green card on Canada permanent residency (not vise versa!)? Is it possible Canada decline my PR card at the Canada border because I have US Green card? Is it illegal to have both cards under Canadian law?

P.S. Before posting this question, I had searched in the internet and many forums. I found that it might be negative impact of having Canadaian PR on US green card when you want to enter to US. However, my question is regarding Canadian law (not US law). Also, I know it is difficult to hold and keep both cards for a long time due to the time restriction.

I'm a PR of another country and CiC doesn't care about it. As long as you status is legal it should be all fine.

Hi,

I also have a US Green Card & Canadian PR. Canada immigration law requires to complete 2 years out of 5 years so I do not lose residency. My work is in the US so I travel to Canada 2 times a year & spend 2 1/2 months in each stay so I can complete 2 years (24 months) in a 5 year period. When I arrive in Canada, I present my Canadian PR to the immigration officer & when I go back to the US, I present my US greencard to the US Border. I know Canadian immigrants cannot enter the US without a US tourist visa so I cannot use my Canada PR to travel to the US without a US tourist visa. Will it show a record in the Canada immigration that I left or exited Canada if I use my US green card to go back to the US? Please help!!!
