Impact of affidavit to sponsor a friend and his family

Hi,

I signed an affidavit to sponsor a friend and his family in November 2017. The family visited Canada end of December 2017 and left after a week's stay.

My friend again visited in March 2016 and got a work permit in April 2016.

I have come to know that he is not having good terms with his employer and has gone back leaving his wife and son here.

My affidavit says -

"1. That during the visit of my friend and his family, they shall be supported by me, shall reside with me in my house. I would also take care of their medical expenses, if any, and I undertake that they shall not be a liability to the Government of Canada during their stay in Canada.

2. That I further undertake that the family being invited shall comply with all the conditions imposed on them.

3. I further undertake to post a bond in any reasonable amount to ensure return of the sponsored family within their authorized stay."

Can anyone guide me whether I am still carrying any liability for the family? Their status is no more visitor. If yes, what should I do to withdraw my obligations for future.

Thanks in advance.

You never had any liability.

If his wife is on a SOWP her permit will run out eventually. Have a sneaking suspicion they will likely have a Canadian child before returning home. Unfortunately not how the WP system is supposed to work but people exploit it. Their original intention was never to visit it seems. Also guess you mean 2018 not 2016:)

Thanks. You are correct he got permit in 2018. I don't guess they will have another child as they have a grown up daughter of 20 years.
