The expected time to be processed under the spousal sponsorship from Mexico is 13 months. We are over the 13 months now(by three weeks)and there is an immigration workers strike in Mexico City, which processes us.Anyone in a same situation? Are the offices closed,or work in a slower rate?Anyone has been contacted and learned something about this stage?Thank you

If you're over your processing time, you can ask your MP (Member of Parliment) to inquiry on your behalf. If your sponsor isn't living in Canada at the moment, it would be the MP wherever their legal address is in Canada. (The MP may verify they are in your riding before helping you.)

I won't promise your MP can help. Some MPs won't help and a helpful MP can get stonewalled by CIC, but it's worth a shot. Sometimes you can get great results.

You can also try ordering your case notes to see what, if anything, is holding up your file. If you are in Canada, the sponsor can order them for free under the Privacy Act. If you're outside, it's $5.

There are people on the Mexico thread that have received correspondence or PPR's in the last couple weeks even while the strike was going on.
So Mexico city is definatly still working but a bit slower than usual.
And I agree if its over 13 months you should send a case specific enquiry and also contact your MP. We are through Mexico and we did this and about a week later we got PPR, it was just 1 week over the 13 month mark.
