Hi, I am currently residing in Winnipeg, MB and have been for the last 3 years. I am married and my husband is my sponsor. My application has gone past the limit it has been 2 in a half going on 3 yrs since I've heard back. Now they finally email me today stating that they need a new medical exam from me and my family members if applicable also security checks background checks etc but I think they only want the medical I am unsure. However they need my medical within 30 days. I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and I have done two medical examines from 2012,2014 and now they want one this year! They said in order to make a decision they need this. We have waited long enough and we have given them everything they have asked for. Why would they want another medical exam and why would they request information regarding my family members? is this a new thing? Even though I'm not obligated to do that part of the requested information, I need advice. Should I fight this? or should I jusst do the medical one last time?

Is your medical from 2014 expired? It should be good for one year. Or if they found a discrepancy with it, they might be checking to make sure if everything is ok. You can redo the medical and let them know you won't be doing the X-ray since you're 33 weeks pregnant.

It shouldnt be. I told the doctor in june of 2014 that I might be pregnant and he put the xray off until I was 3 months. So I must of done my xray which without that the medical exam is not complete around september and then they sent it off. So thats less than a year. Is it because Im pregnant? And if I do another medical what if they refuse me because I cant do the xray?

They won't deny you for not doing an x Ray, but they might wait to approve the visa for when you're able to do the X-ray after the birth.

If the decision is pending the medical, then probably not until they receive the medical results.
If you have proof that your last medical isn't expired, you can ask why they need a redo. No one really knows what the VOs are thinking. There could have been something odd on the last medical and they want to double check everything is okay. I Don't know.

If it were me I would probably email the, and ask and send proof the last medical isn't expired, and in the mean time, because u only have 30 days, I would probably suck it up and do the medical again, minus the x Ray, and let them know u will do the x ray after the baby's birth.

I have heard of pregnant women doing the x ray with a protective covering? But I'm not sure the rules of that or how it works exactly.

So they will give me permanent residency?
You can't be approved without a full medical - including x-ray. If your medical was sent in without the x-ray, then it was incomplete. Once you are no longer pregnant, you need to go for the x-ray to complete your medical. Once CIC receives the x-ray results, they will continue processing your file.

You can't get permanent residency without the x-ray. There is nothing to "fight".

yes there is something to fight! My medical was done twice including the xrays. I did my last xray when I was pregnant and my medical has not expired. I truly believe they are just sending me on a wild goose chase. Why do they keep requesting a medical exam? I am healthy! They have repeatedly asked for my medical and they are not giving me a reason why. Its getting to the point where I do have the right to take further action because we have given them what they want.

Are you sure you are going to a doctor listed on the panel of physicians that have been approved by CIC?

Yes, I am. I made sure of that. He understands the stress we are under he doesnt understand why I have not became a permanent resident yet. Immigration can request as many medical exams they want and yet they say I have 30 days max when I did my part already. I will do this medical exam one last time but I have to find out if i can get one since I am further along. I think its safe but again I shouldnt have to do it again. this sux.

Given your medical should still be valid have you thought about contacting your local MP to enquire as to why you have to complete another as no doubt that will be a cost to you for a third time? Given you have only 30 days you are unlikely to get a response if you question it yourself so it might be worth a try.

i agree with bruce, it may be time for the sponsor to get their MP involved. CIC must respond to MP requests within days, and they can get more complete information about the file. Perhaps the MP can inquire why a 3rd medical is needed or ask them to extend the current exam.

So the CIC rep told me that my medical is valid until august 28, 2015 and that vegreville should not want another medical and to write the office and send them my IME number for proof. It will defitnitly not get to them in time, So with that We are going to collect as much info and documentation we need to bring to the appt and see what the MP can do. Thanx again! I'll keep you guys updated.
