Immigration Questions - Skilled Worker

All,

I am in USA now, wishing to immigrate to Canada. I would like to apply in the skilled worker category, though I do not have any employment offers from any companies there.

I apologize if these questions had been answered before.

1. I am a software engineer/computer programmer and their NOC code is 2173 or 2174. I am not a manager but have 5+ years experience. Would this be good enough, as these codes are not listed in the Ministerial Instruction or 38 job list. Would this be an issue? If so how can I apply?

2. I did my Masters in USA and have worked in USA for the last 3 years. Would I need to take the English test. My wife recently took the TOEFL test too.

3. I understand that we need to police reports, but do we need them for the first stage itself? How can we get one if we live in USA, but need to get a report in India. Are there any forms available that we need to use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If your occupation is not listed in new 38 list, you can not apply under FSW-1, you can apply using FSW-2 or 3 where you need a approved job offer from any canadian employer.

2. I did my Masters in USA and have worked in USA for the last 3 years. Would I need to take the English test. My wife recently took the TOEFL test too.

They need IELTS and they even recommend for submit proof of language proficiecny from Native English speakers too. I will recommend take IELTS when you are very sure about English, in case if you need just 8-10 numbers towards 67, then you may submit a explanation letter indicating you English skills.

3. I understand that we need to police reports, but do we need them for the first stage itself? How can we get one if we live in USA, but need to get a report in India. Are there any forms available that we need to use?

You can get police certificate by applying your indian embassy, this is what i red here in forum from one indian aplicant. So try to find more information yourself.

P.S Take this all my personal opinion only, if i am wrong any place, any other senior will probably correct it. Good luck

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply Mahharrouf,

I do not have any job offers from any Canadian companies. Also I already did my masters in US, so I would rather not study now. So is there no other way to apply.

Thanks.

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I am planning to apply for immigration under FSW class. I have more than 67 points. I currently hold bachelors degree and MBA from USA, as well as I have 4 years of experience in the field. I would like to know which forms I should complete.

Do I need to complete "Schedule 3 - Economic class - Federal Skilled Worker" application too?
http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/pdf/kits/forms/imm0008_3e.pdf

along with the application for PR in Canada?
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm0008egen.pdf

Your advice appreciated.

Thank you,
Vas~
