Immigration Question

Hi all,

I am in US on H-1, planning to apply for Canadian immigration and have a simple question: Can we apply for the immigration(submit forms, pay fee etc) with out FBI clearence certificate? The certificate takes about 2 months and I don't want to wait till that long. can somebody please answer this question? Thanks a lot in advance.

FBI doesn't take that long.
you should go through www.cic.gc.ca because its pretty good.

Well the question was, can I apply while I wait for FBI results. I've been through that website and couldn't find any information pertinent to my concern. Please advice.

I presume you are FSW 1. If you apply for FSW 1, you are NOT supposed to send documents to Sydney NS. Its only at the visa office stage that you must send your documents. The reason why I said you should read www.cic.gc.ca is that this is basic information and you may have missed other important information. Well i hope you haven't.

i could be wrong in presuming that you are applying for FSW 1.

I appreciate your time/help. I fall under the Category 1 for skilled worker. But I still don't see an answer to my question. Is it that I have to send the documents only after fbi clearance? Thanks for your time.

you can apply without the FBI certificate. the FBI certificate is being requested after assessing your application. you can proceed with your application.

NO, you are NOT supposed to send any document to Sydney NS. This means you don't need your FBI clearance.

When the time comes to your visa office stage, you send in all your documents together, i.e. you must have your fbi clearance certificate.

Good to know Zack you got your answer. This is the simple reason why this forum should exist for novices like me rather than being told go to cic.gc.ca--


I tried to get an answer from the cic people through mail and they answered me completely different thing and not my question.
Now my question is I am waiting for FBI Clearance and uk police certificate and indian police certificate.

Can I apply under the Federal Skilled worker class with what documents and what documents can be provided later--i want the exact link please as I am trying my best but unable to get exact information. mistakes in these things could prove very costly in my life.


All I have is my workexperience certificate from UK--for 5 yrs as Restaurant manager from a big restaurant company which has nearly 34000 branches.

I am waiting to get my University transcripts from India

I am waiting for my police certificates

I am taking my IELTS on april 18th

I am in US on a H4 visa and staying here LEGALLY for the next 3 yrs

If I understand correctly, I just need to print out my address and attach two copies and I don't need any postal stamp etc..Is that correct?

you only need to send to sydney ns

1 applications forms
2 photocopy of biopage of passprots
3 2 address labels 1 in english and another in your native language, no need for postage
4 bank draft.

that is what i did. But some people say to do it on paper that is sticky on one side like label paper, but since yours is English, i don't think it matters.
