Hi,

I wanted to apply for the Canada Immigration. Need to know if we need to take the Language test through IELTS, is it mandatory. I am working currently in Canada on an assignment. If Langauge test is not needed what else can i show as a proof for my english competency. Like my work experience, Mark sheet, GRE Score ( More than 5 year old)

I think if you are happy to do english exams again just do it. The system requires results not more than a year.

If your country of origin is a non-English speaking country, then your Consular officer will require that you take the IELTS.

However, in order not to discourage you, you can still show proof of your English language skills to see if you might be granted a waiver on this requirement.

But psyche yourself and be prepared to take the test if and when they request it.

It is mandatory now.
