Immigration Process for New Born Outside Canada

Hi,

Due to medical reasons, my wife has decided to have the baby in Sri Lanka. However, I've spoken to someone at the immigration office to ensure the correct process which I'm about to explain.

Wife is a PR holder and I'm a Canadian Citizen since 1996. The immigration officer mentioned I would need to apply in order to receive the Citizenship certification for the newborn and because I'm a citizen the baby would not have an issue receiving citizenship.

Would this be the case or would I not be able to receive the citizenship certificate for my newborn? I did also find these applications which I would like to know if it's correct as well.

Yes, your child will have no trouble getting citizenship since s/he will be the first generation born abroad.

Seems like you wife got her PR a long time ago. Have you both been living abroad this whole time? If not does she meet her residency obligation?

Hi, no no she's been living in Canada since 2011 and traveling back and forth during family emergencies. However after arrival in 2011 she did live in Canada for over 4.5 years and did renewed her PR upon expiry which we did need to mention details of her absence during the renewal. She just traveled back in November 2019 with me and I just got to know her PR will be expiring by Sep 2020 and i need to get her and the Baby back to canada before that.

Hi, So my wife was able to get her Travel document which is valid until Mach 2021 and I have applied for my newborn's proof of citizenship in Sep. Still waiting on the process and would like to know what I can do to get them back sooner. COVID is frustrating as it is and I would like to be able to see my baby ASAP.

Can anyone shed some light on this situation. I did also send an urgency letter explaining our situation as well as mark urgent processing on the envelop but haven't received an email as of yet.

I am in the situation as you l sent in application October 2020 no confirmation reply. I am currently sick so l had to apply for urgent processing and still waiting for feed back. Have you received any update in your urgent processing?
