Immigration office selection in CEC Applcn

Hi

When we fill the CEC Applcn form we have this question # 4) to select the Immigration office for processing.
Since iam in US - hope i should select the offices in US.

We have 4 visa offices listed in US using the instruction guid link: Which one of the below should i choose? Can i choose the one closes to my residence as the vis aoffice?
1) Detteroit
2) New York
3) Los Angels
4) Seattle

Help in this regard should really help.

Applicants for Permanent Residence
You must select the visa office that serves your country of nationality or the country where you have been legally admitted for at least one year.

Thanks Again for the response. Yes thats under the list.

CPP-Ottawa - guess its not in US - thats why confused to choose that as the immigration office as iam applying from US. can you throw some light on this?

BTW i see members saying they send their passport after approval to Detroit for stamping after meds- is this for people who are applying from canada?

When in doubt, follow instructions: on that website, under the column for "Applications for Permanent Resident Visas" - for United States, the visa office for processing is listed as "CPP-O", which is in Ottawa, Canada. That means, United States citizens or persons legally admitted to the US for a minimum of one year, can choose that office for processing of their application.

CPP-O processes the application, but a visa office in the US issues the permanent resident visa. That's why the passport request comes from the Detroit office. It used to be Buffalo but they are now closed. In anycase, you have a long way to go(about 15 months or so) before this step and adequate instructions will be given to you then. So one step at a time.

The same website also says:
"All new Economic Class applications must first be mailed to the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada."
