Hi all,

I have just got immigration to Canada and I will be landing there in March or April 2015. How I can get immigration for my mother? My mother is dependent on me because my father died few years ago and I have no brother who should take care of her when I will immigrate to Canada.

Regards

Realistically, you are looking at at least 4 years before you can even apply to sponsor her, and then another 3+ years for approval. You might want to look into the super-visa process instead. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa.asp

To sponsor your mom you will need 3 consecutive years of Canadian income meeting the parents LICO standard. Since you will only be here partially in 2015, assume that you can start to meet full LICO amount starting in 2016. Then you'd need tax assessments from 2016, 2017 and 2018, so could possibly apply for your mother's PR in January 2020 (assuming rules are the same as they are now).

Also your mom will need to pass a medical exam to show she has no serious conditions that will cost our healthcare system too much.

A shortcut way is to have her come to Canada on tourist visa then apply for compassionate visa. Make sure that there's no immediate family member in your home country to really take care of her so she can get approved. I have a friend who got approved just because she proved that the spouse of her mother is deceased (e.g. death cert) and all of her children are overseas (e.g. PR docs etc..)

And that, dear readers, is why it can be very difficult to obtain a TRV for relatives, especially those who have a high risk of not returning to their own country.

Thanks for the responses. Please if you could explain what is compassionate visa.

Super Visa is definitely the way to go for now- it doesn't take a lot of time to process and the approval rate is quite high. This way she'll be fine for 2 years and then can reenter since it's a multiple entry. After that can look at the immigration options. Very flexible
