Immigration Document Recheck

Just out of curiosity.

When we apply for citizenship do they check the documents on what we used to apply for Immigration. Or do they check the period of residency and documents pertaining to it?

Do I suppose to keep all those documents with me for years?

I don't know if they check them, but I kept mine, just in case. If you don't have enough space to store the papers, scan them and store them in digital form in at least two spaces (for example your computer and a cloud).

One of the background checks for the citizenship process is an immigration check to make sure you are not under report. CIC can as part of this review your entire immigration history especially if there is information on file on the possibility of prior misrepresentation and/or fraud. This would of course include a review of all documentation submitted in support of any immigration application be it visitor, work permit, refugee claim etc. Do you have any particular concerns?
