Immigration consultants?

Hi everyone, I need your advice regarding the use of immigration consultants to apply for the skilled worker visa, especially for those who have applied for the same visa category. I'd like to know if it's worth it to use the service of immigration consultants in order to make sure that every necessary documentation is in order? Or is it pretty straightforward that we all can do it ourselves? Any feedback is appreciated. I'd be more than happy if you guys can give me tips regarding this as well. Do it yourself. The website www.cic.gc.ca explains everything in detail and you always have this forum to ask your questions. Will end up saving a pretty packet too.

I think it's up to your finance situation. Why I sad that is because, if you have money enough, with the consultant(a good one like Cohen) you don"t have to worry about anything. In the application forms they even highlight every column and made the explanation you are looking for from the forum or other places. And they do every single arrangement for your payments for the government fees and others. You just communicate with them. No other place to ask. Just simplifies your life. I mean it really made my application comfortable. Sometimes just one simple filling mistake lengthens already long process time. Yes this forum is marvelous for consulting but profession is something else I believe.

Hi Traumasurgeon, thanks for the advice. You're absolutely right, I think it all depends on your financial situation. Some people prefer to take the hassle out of applying themselves by using the help of an immigration consultants just to make sure everything is in order. You have a good point there. Make Notes of things needed, from CHECK LIST... And follow it as CLOSELY as possible......

Add explanation letters for ANYTHING that you think MIGHT need explanation or has doubt/s....

As mentioned before, it depends on your financial situation. To me, I would either do it by myself using the detailed CIC website and the help from this forum members or use the help of immigration lawyer. The reasons I do not recommend using consultants are: There are lots of consultant and it is hard to determine which one is good, they do nothing but arranging your paper, and the difference in fees between using consultant and laywer service is not much. If you can afford to pay around $2700 plus disbercemnets you should be able to add another $1500 to use more professional service.

To add to what has already been written rightly by all who answered so far, if you either have the slightest doubt about your eligibility, and/or are a borderline applicant (as far as eligibility points are concerned), I would strongly advise you to obtain the services of a reputed immigratoin attorney like David Cohen. I am talking from my personal experience (read about my experience in www.raju-thomas.com) - I lost 8 precious years and a lot of money due to an unjustified denial by the visa officer in the first instance. This certainly would not have happened if I had applied through a reputed immigration attorney. I applied through David Cohen in the second instance and the application was approved, against heavy odds as I have narrated in my blog-post. So was my son-in-law's!
