Hello,

I am travelling to toronto from nagpur (India) for the first time with my wife and kid under Express Entry PR. I booked my flight from nagpur -via- doha -via- montreal to toronto through qatar airways.

But my agent is telling me to book flight directly to toronto and not to land on montreal because the PR is for ontario province and (Quebec province) montreal immigration department can might cancel your visa.

Now i have booked my flight and it's very difficult to cancel it due to non refundable clause from airlines.

I want to know what should i do to keep my itinerary as it is??

Connecting flight will not create an issue as you won't be coming out of the airport. Good luck!

thanks for your prompt suggestion.

i would also like to know that:

1.) My Immigration check will happen in montreal or toronto (final destination)?

2.) If it will happen in montreal, 2 hrs will be enough or i need to extend my layover?

1. Montreal.

2. It may or may not be enough time. It depends on how many people are ahead of you in the line, how many officers are working etc.

You will have your flight information to show that you are only transiting through Montreal, and will have boarding passes to show you are going onward to Ontario. You would also have the address that you will be staying at in Ontario I gather. Immigration officers aren't just waiting to cancel visas for silly reasons like this. I understand the desire to be cautious in matters like this, but as long as everything else is ok for your landing and you have all your required paperwork etc you should be fine. No need to throw away money unnecessarily to book new tickets or pay to change existing tickets. Just my 2 cents.
