You should be ready to show the following documents:

- a valid passport or travel document
- the letter of introduction from the visa office that you received when your study permit was approved (this letter contains your permit reference number and the CBSA officer needs this letter to issue your study permit)
- a valid temporary resident visa (if required)
- a copy of the letter of acceptance from the school at which you are permitted to study
- proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in Canada and
- letters of reference or any other documents recommended by the visa office where you applied.

Proof of funds, can preferably be the loan sanction letter from the bank, and the fees payment receipt (if any)
You mentioned that the proof of funds can be the sanction letter from the bank. I have the letter from the bank although i haven't taken the loan from the bank because i don't need it. I applied undder the general category and i'll be living next month. Is it ok if i show this letter at the airport? Please help me out.

Well everybody has told you already what cic requests at the port of entry...
My classes begin on August 17th and I have been in Canada since June 16th... so no problem if you come early..

Also you need to have all the documentation..... But for example in my case I never was asked for anything when I entered to canada via toronto..... I was only asked to wait for about 2 minutes, the officer printed my study permit and I was free to go...

I know Toronto is usually a less complicated port of entry so you should not worry too much....

Be cool it is almost impossible once you have yout study visa to be refused to enter canada....

enjoy canada dude

Of course not.... Not at all I got here 2 months earlier and I am fine... It only took about 3 minutes to get my study permit and I was free to go... No questioning at all... They didn't even check my documents....

Just enjoy your trip and welcome to canada

I landed just last week at YYZ (Toronto) and just showed the LOI and then that was it. I was asked to go to the counter behind the immigration officer to print my study permit. At said counter, I again showed the LOI and that was it. The line was a bit long so it took me a little over an hour for it. As long as you're not hiding anything, you'll be fine. There was someone ahead of me who was questioned since his sister was also a student and the VO found out that their mom was already overstaying. So the man and his dad was escorted somewhere. Perhaps maybe another room? And then there was this family of four. The daugther was the student but the VO question how come everybody in the family was there so I think they were also brought somewhere. Two students were also not allowed to work part time. I'm not trying to scare anybody. I'm just trying to share my experience and for most to have a general idea of possible scenarios you might witness. For all we know those families were just escorted to a room with a translator. :)

Goodluck and as long as you are truthful and have all the necessary documents, you will be fine :)
