Immigration asked for valid passport and medical...please help

Hello,

I have applied for spousal sponsorship last year and today immigration asked for my wife’s valid passport and medical. Problem is, my wife is refugee claimant and her passport was seized at the airport by cbsa also that passport is expired now. In this case, what should we do? We only have certified true copy. Please help
