various reasons..US does not give visa for college students. US admission is much more difficult than canada for international students.
US F1 visa(student visa) is much more difficult to get. Also after education in US u get 2 years of OPT(like a work permit) in that time u need to find an employer that would sponsor ur H1 visa (work visa) and after that u need the employer to sponsor for green card(PR). U wait 4-5 years (in queue) just so ur number comes up for PR. so it will take around 8 years to get PR in US and during that time if u r fired/leave the company u start the PR process all over again well mostly all over again depends on what stage u r.

yes ....rules have changed over the years....it has become more and more difficult......

dont know about rules in australia......US as canada has different immigrating options but students need job offer and an employer who would sponsor them for green card....

The US Student Visa is way too complicated than any other country; not just the visa process, but getting admission in good US institute is quite difficult and complex as well.

For starters,
You need to give a GRE test to apply for the admission in a decent US institute (poor Schools do not ask for GRE score, but you wouldn't get a visa with the offer letter from some 3rd class institute).

usually, Each decent institute has a level of GRE score, and they do not accept student below that score.
Scoring good in the GRE exam is too difficult as well.

After completing the GRE, you need to evaluate your Transcript using 3rd Party service.
The evaluation process is quite costly and way too time consuming, in most of the cases, you have to send your ORIGINAL Transcript to the Evaluation service provider for evaluation.

What they really do is they convert your transcript in the US system, it usually takes 1-3 months (you can pay extra $200 to $300) for urgent service.


After that the Evaluation company will return your original transcript to you and they will also courier it to your selected institute by themself (you have to pay the courier fee too).

This process is way too time consuming,



Now, after doing all this stuff (evaluation, GRE Exam, IELTS etc), you now need to find those institutes who accept GRE score less than or equal to what you have scored.
You need to apply to at least 3 schools (usually student applies at 5 to 6 schools), this is because, the US Visa officer believes that only bona fide students apply to more than one school, in case if you applied to only one school and accepted than Visa officer will reject you right away (in extreme circumstances he may accept you too).


Let's suppose you have granted the US visa and your sole purpose is to get the PR after completing your studies.

One thing to remember,
After completing your studies, you have to find a job within 3 months or else you will be deported.

MAJOR REASON I AM REJECTING US UNIVERSITIES is that US unis don't give scholarships.

i was selected to university whose is very highly reputed on international ranking but it didn't gave me a single penny. the uni which gave me aid is ranked a little low. on the other hand canada gives many scholarship opportunities. Plus, 3 year work permit. US gives 2 year permit to STEM Students. H1B is very competitive after OPT.

I am sorry, but this is not a major reason to not go to the US.
US Institute gives scholarships more than any country in the world does, but you need to be very competitive to land the scholarship.
With very good GRE Score, High GPA and IELTS score you would definitely get the Scholarship.

Yeah, I am from Karachi,
I did my GRE preparation myself, there are some wonderful GRE Books like Cracking GRE 2014 by Princeton Review.
It took me around three weeks to prepare for the GRE.
