Hi,
Me and my spouse are planning to apply for Canadian PR through EE, but are eventually thinking to land in Canada in year 2021 (may be early 2021), but we are also worried about job prospects in 2021.

Considering the fact that Canada intake in the year 2021 will be 3,50,000 , i think there will a lot of competition for getting a good job.

My age would be 32 in 2021, which will further decrease points in CRS.
My field of occupation is IT (Software developer) and are planning to settle in Toronto.

What you guys think ? is it ok to plan for 2021 or should we better plan for 2020 ?

Others am sure will comment as well but what are your current CRS scores and IELTS ranges.

Look at this another way you could apply now if your score were 460 plus get an invite and COPR maybe this year early next leaving you a while to land in Canada before the COPR expires so taking you well into 2020.

You could soft land in 2020 meaning you become PRs and then return home to sort things out and then you could stay away for a maximum near 3 years before coming back as long as you continue to meet the residency obligation of 2 years in every 5 years when you come back..

Nobody has a crystal ball on what employment will be like in 2021 although most new immigrants will probably tell you no matter what year you arrive it will be hard initially unless really lucky and it is generally very difficult to secure a job before arrival.

Seems a no brainer if you qualify now and are serious then think about applying this year given immigration rules are always changing year on year if nothing else and who knows who will qualify in a couple of years from now

Are all those going to be working in software? I doubt, plus Canada is not a small place, however for your field Toronto is I would say indeed competitive.

From a recent experience currently it's an employer market and lots of jobs in IT/software. at least where im located.
If you are serious about coming to Canada then you should apply whenever you get the chance to do so.

You may have a good point but when it comes to immigration get your first few steps done then think about what is next.

Just to repeat if you qualify now points wise and are serious then consider applying now given immigration programs can change and as said by the time you get your IELTS, medical and paperwork in then it could be early 2020 before you get your COPR. Once you have your COPR you can plan a soft landing and then have a few years to finalise your move .

There will always be competition for jobs so no point in worrying about any immigration quota which is unlikely to change any time soon and anyway is a whole Canada quota plus of course for sure only a relatively small number of whom will likely be IT professionals although of course no way to know.
