Immigrate after IEC work permit

Hey people,

first of all, I am positive surprised to have found a forum like that.

Here my situation: I am in Toronto since August 2011 with a Travel & work visa and I also work since this time as Hotel front Desk clerk. I am an educated hotel specialist with many years experience from europe.
Since I really like Canada, I was planning to apply for Candian skilled worker or canadian experience class immigration. My questions are: Am I eligable for one of this prgrams? I found out my job is NOC 6435. But the immigration pages are kinda confusing. So do I have chances with a letter from my hotel that they wanna keep me, with my good english skills and experience and IF YES, which program you recommend and what tips you might have? thank you ALL in advance

You don't qualify for Canadian Experience Class. To qualify, you need two years of experience in Canada in a skilled role.

As for the federal skilled worker program, noc 6435 is not on the list of accepted occupations. Because your occupation is not on the accepted occupations list, you would need an Arranged Employment Offer in Canada to qualify to apply for this program. More information here:

To be clear, that means there is no use to apply for any of this programs and no way for me to stay,right?

No, you are misinterpreting. You'll have to read ALL the information and then assess all your points to determine if you would qualify -

hey,

I descriped my case, my IEC work permit is valid until August 2012, do I have to wait a certain time before applying. Do you think it makes sense to apply for skilled worker program? Arranged employment would have to apply for skilled worker program, but you said my occupation is not on the list. What do the following points mean, what I have to do detailed, I mean do I have to call HRSDC for a labour opinion??

•your work permit must have been confirmed by Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) through a positive labour market opinion or
•you must be in a category that is exempt from an Arranged Employment Opinion


sorry, but as a "non specialist" is pretty confusing what to do.

Do you know if there are other job positions in the hotel business, which would qualify for a better NOC rating. I mean when my employer would write me a letter that they employ me for example as Sales executive, would this be better.


cause I understood without NOC 0, A, B there is no need to apply for anything.

For CEC: Correct, experience IN CANADA must be NOC O, A, or B.

For FSW Category 2: Arranged employment - permanent job offer must be for an occupation classified as NOC O,A, or B. Employment experience must include at least 1 year of a skilled position (does not have to be same NOC) in the past 10 years - any where in the world.

So - if you manage a promotion + permanent job offer in a skilled position, PLUS have one year of skilled experience in the past 10 years anywhere in the world (and can document it), then you do not need to wait to apply for FSW.

Your IEC work permit would fall into this category:
"If you are currently working in Canada in a job that is Human Resources and Skills Development Canada HRSDC confirmation-exempt under an international agreement or a significant benefit category (e.g. intra-company transferee)"

Note a big challenge for those who apply under FSW2 is the requirement that they still have a valid work permit at the time the PR visa is issued...

hey,

another question: I heard about, that in case i will get married with my canadian girlfriend, I wouldnt even be allowed to work for 1 year. Where is the sense, I wanna live here with my wife, but I cant work for one year?! Is ther a way to make this waiting time shorter? I heard when I would marry her in another country, it would be much easier to get permanent resident and be allowed to work?
