I might be wrong, but based on my knowledge such trainings are often just a legal way to collect money from participants. But it is my opinion only.

The program is $2000cdn + HST - also requires a "7" on IELTS taken within the last 2 yrs.

I am not selling this program. Instead, I enrolled in this program myself, right after my I got my PR few months back. Its being offered at Rotman school of management, which is canada's top business school. I guess Ivey might be first and rotman 2nd. (now pls dont start with your hate mails cuz of this ranking...)

The reason why I posted here. I have been on this forum far too long to know how we immigrants suffer in our career, even after our immigration. No matter if you have phd or msc from UK or wherever you are coming from, you are usually made to start from the bottom. And then you are made to suffer few years in that position, before you are given your first promotion. In the mean time, you see many younger and lesser educated individuals pass you by on the career highway. And you wonder why?? Sometimes it may be the obvious, but mostly its not what you think.

The reason comes down to how we 'immigrants' connect with our canadian bosses, how we fail to pick up the indirect communication and feed backs given to us and how we network in this country. I have worked in Canada and I really found this program an eye-opener. So i thought to share it. I know most of you are already stressed out from your immigration application. And I totally know what you are going through.

So if it relates to you, do check out the program. (and if it doesnt pls ignore it - i have no intention to increase your bp). I guess if you have lost job or been laid off, the government will pay full tuition. But yes, you will have to have top-notch ielts score (which most of you already do) and all your previous certificates verified.

Frankly, its at Rotman - which will give you a huge brand name on your resume. I know it does not relate to many on this specific forum, but it does relate to few of you. And that's why im putting it out there, for the peers who have already got their PRs.

All the best everyone - hope you get your PRs soon.

So, one million of lemmings cannot be wrong, right? :)
There is at least one discriminatory thing which almost any immigrant is aware of. And it is called... Ta-daa... Canadian experience... But it seems that no one is willing to change it...

Thanks honeysingh, really appreciate your words of wisdom. You are right. Its not a spam, but just wanted to spread the word about a program that is specifically designed for immigrants.

I understand that people on this forum do get stressed and sometimes extremely paranoid of everything. It was just an effort to tell them of a program that might be useful for some of them, once they get their PR.

Not all jobs ask for Canadian experience. If you are in medicine and have been working in states, just after passing some exams you can start working in Canada. Many IT positions do not require Canadian experience too! So your perception is not based on reality and correct knowledge.

But in most of sales, marketing, manufacturing and other jobs they are right to require Canadian Experience, specially for senior positions. Unless you do not have contacts in the market, unless you do not know the competition and the lay of the land, you are useless for the company. You are good as an intern but not for senior manager position.

So asking for Canadian experience is not a discrimination, its a valid need of the business.

If you're in Medicine and come not from England/US/Australia and probably couple of other countries, say, you come from Russia/Ukraine/etc, be ready for real pain in the a?? as you will need to spend 2 years or more learning some basic stuff and then start everything from scratch, even if your name was world recognized while you was in other country

Lack of Canadian experience almost "automagically" means your salary will be CAD xK less. If this is not discriminatory, then no one is being discriminated in Canada at all. Lets just not assume that "I've never seen that, thus it does not exist at all"
