ooooh I thought when i checked the immediate family members definition . step parent and parents was there?

An immediate family member is defined as a
- spouse or common-law partner
- dependent child (yours, your spouse’s or your common-law partner’s)
- dependent child of a dependent child
- parent or step-parent (yours, your spouse’s or your common-law partner’s)
- guardian or tutor
Thanks for the correction but that is only for covid. Not sure why they change the definition just for this category because it creates confusion. For all other immigration matters and matters within Canada immediate family does not include parents just spouse and dependent children. If you referred to immediate family with any correspondence with IRCC they would think you are referring to spouse of dependent child.
Is your spouse in Canada? If yes, then you need written authorization. If not, you need an essential reason to travel.
