Hi all,

New member here. I have two questions for about completing the IMM 5768 form (financial evaluation for PGP sponsorship).

Question 8: Minimum Necessary Income

Do I need to calculate this number or do I simply grab the latest number for 2014 from this table:
canadavisa.com/necessary-income-levels-for-family-sponsorship.html

2014 2013
3 persons $47,051 $46,354

So for 3 people I would use $47,051 to answer Question 8.

I am confused because if we are supposed to use a specific number from the table why does CIC even ask this question? Otherwise how do I calculate the value?

Question 15: Employment History

I'm supposed to show income for the past 3 years (2013, 2012, 2011). But the table is asking for Gross Income up to Present day. Since I don't have a tax return for 2014 yet, should I just estimate the value for 1-Jan-2014 - Present?

This is a family sponsorship board, which doesn't require the financial minimum. You will probably get better responses if you write a thread on a Canada visa board that requires the financial evaluation.

@tink23 - is this the wrong place to ask about sponsoring parents? I thought that's what 'Family Class Sponsorship' forum was for.

As far as I understand it you have to proof that you have earned more money than the number in the table within the last 3 years in order to be able to sponsor your parents or grand parents. As for question 15 I would add your proof of income for 2011,2012,2013 and the pay stubs for 2014 up to today.

Oh yes. Definitely. Majority of people on here are sponsoring their spouse or dependent children, which doesn't require the financial minimum.

Good luck preparing for the parent sponsorship opening again in January.

As for the values given and if you need to calculate your specific amounts, no idea. I would think the guide would give more detailed information for this question to assist. Have you printed off and read fully the guides for parental sponsorship??

I see.

Yes I have, but I'm still not 100% clear about this question. Even after additional googling/looking through forum threads...

From what I understand, searching around on here, you need to write what your income was for the three previous years. If for any of the three years you fall below the levels listed, then you won't qualify to sponsor your parents. So don't just write the minimum value listed, list what your income was.

Hopefully senior members familiar with the financial evaluation will be able to help you more fully.

Yes, that's question 9. I entered the corresponding income under 2013, 2012, 2011. No problem there.

The question that confuses me is question 8 "Minimum necessary income". I don't understand what this number should be.

Hopefully senior members familiar with the financial evaluation will be able to help you more fully.
