but then you have to answer this... When did your sponsor return to Canada? (DATE)

I don't understand return to Canada after what? last visit to my spouse's country or a trip we did together?

They meant when was the last time you visited your wife and then return date. For example: Your wedding was on Jan. 1, 2015 and you returned to Canada Jan.30,2015 and sponsored her in March 2015.
so the date enter in that question will be Jan. 30/2015 if that was the last time you visited her.
