I have a question about IMM5481:

For question 6 B on page one, do I need to enter the number of children my wife and I have together? I am sponsoring my Chinese wife, and we have a 4 month old son, but he is a Canadian citizen. What should I do??

And page 2 of IMM5481 basically repeats page 1. This is my first undertaking. Do I need to enter my son's name for question 6 B on page 2 or just leave all of page 2 blank?

Please help!

Thanks!

Yes, the answer to 6B is your son, he is to be included there as your financial dependent. Page 2 asks for details of whomever you entered into the answers on page 1. So in 6B page 2, you enter your son's name and DOB.

Thanks.

So on page 2 the only thing I answer is 6B, right?

What about IMM1283? Do I need to fill out this form? The only person I am sponsoring is my wife, since my son is already a Canadian citizen.

Thanks!

Simply write N/A where you are not required to provide answers.

IMM1283 is not on the list of documents for sponsoring a spouse only, so no, you don't need to fill it in.

Thanks!

Actually, the IMM0008DEP form is troubling because my son has not yet received his proof of citizenship card. It takes up to a year and it has only been a few months since we sent the application. So there are many questions on this form that are tricky to answer, like citizenship and national identity, plus under current country of residence - status - I don't know what to put because my son doesn't have any documents yet...so no visa etc...though he is legal because my wife is Chinese, so he doesn't need any documents to stay in China.

So I still don't know what to do about IMM0008DEP and whether I even need to fill it in...

You don't need to fill in the IMM008DEP because your son is not being sponsored as your wife's dependent. Simply advise CIC that you applied for his proof of citizenship but have not yet received it, that's the best you can do for now. He goes on the IMM5416 as additional family member.

I must be thick, because I'm still confused about this form.

On page 1, question 6B, I enter "1" for my son, even though he is a Canadian citizen...is this correct?

It also mentions on page 1, question 6B, to provide "details on the back of this page". What details do I provide? I have my son's birth certificate translated and notarized along with the receipt for his citizenship card...are those the only 'details' they require?

That leads to my next question about page 2, question 6B. Why do I enter my son's name on page 2 if I am providing details on the back of page 1? At the top of page 2 it states "Details of family members and persons included in undertakings in effect or not yet in effect". How does this apply to my son who is Canadian?

I never imagined it would take this long to complete all these forms! Argh!!!

Thanks!

1. Yes, even though he is Canadian, he goes into 6B.

2. Page 2 IS the back of page 1. Furthermore, the questions on page 2 carry the same numbers as on page 1 so that you give details as appropriate to each question. So, since you have nothing to enter in that section at the top of page 2, you write N/A until you come to 6B, where you enter your son's NAME and DOB.

Thanks, Charlie!

Haha, I thought it meant I actually write the details on the back of page 1. Why don't they just say 'page 2'??!!

Anyways, I'm clear on that form now...thanks to you. Now it's the China Region Guide I'm confused about...and around we go!

Cheers,
FS
