Hi, when googling for a notary nearby me that can do the imm5409, I saw that there are lots of websites that say that they can do that specific form remotely.
For example: https://www.notarize.ca/blog/all-about-the-imm-5409e-statutory-declaration-of-common-law-status
it says:

Has anyone actually tried that? I tried to search this forum but couldn't find anything on this.

I think the bigger question is, why do you think you need this?

I'm asking because it seems most of the time I see people asking about it, they've been told by some consultant and it mostly isn't needed.

Thanks for your reply,

It's for the application for the open work permit while waiting for the PR.

On this page:
https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1163&top=17
it says:
  • In the Family Information form (IMM 5707) part of the document checklist, upload
    • the Family Information form, and
    • your marriage licence/certificate or Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409).

So I assume that means I should include it?

Hi there; we've done the notarization online with a notary from Toronto. So far there hasn't been any issues with our application

Anyone with a positive experience with online notary for IMM5409? If this is the case can you share the one you used?

Many thanks for your help

To help speed up the process of buying a timeshare in NYC I need an online notary service that accepts non U.S citizens without a U.S SSN. We are foreigners living in Europe. They would need to be able to verify our identity solely based on the I.D we can provide. Is that possible and what service can we use?
