Hello. My son has been nominated for BCPNP and been given a letter to apply for a work permit with his existing job. The existing job is with an open work permit so they did not apply for him, they just gave him a support letter and answered questions when BCPNP officer called to confirm. When filling out the form to apply for a new work permit, it is asking for the LMIA exempt number. The only number on the letter is T13 but the form will only accept a 9 digit number that starts with A. I cannot find any information to solve this accept one person suggesting that the employer has to apply now and if they put in the T13 code in their application for him, it will generate this A number. Nowhere did the BCPNP tell him that the employer would have to do this. Does anyone know the answer?
Thank you for your help, please.

You need to apply for closed work permit with help of WPSL from Province and with help of your employer. Employer have to submit job offer in employer portal and you should include that in your work permit application. Employers have to pay $230 compliance fees and submit job offer. That job offer starts with A123456789 . You have to put that number in work permit form and have to attach WPSL and nomination letter along other forms and fees .

Thank you so much. Seems crazy that BCPNP did not tell him that when they issued him the LMIA exempt letter.
Appreciate you.

Yeah they never give perfect answer. Make sure you attach job offer numbers and copy of payment receipt $230 paid by employer along with other documents.
