Hi I lived with my current wife for 2 years prior to our marriage. I read some disturbing news that I needed to list that I was in a conjugal or maybe common law relationship with my current wife (even if it was not conjugal or common law by all the definitions that I have seen) in my application. Does anyone know if this is required? If I mail the office then do I just need to attach my receipt number to a letter explaining this...or? Thanks for the assistance in advance!

Re: possibly conjugal prior to marriage

the item in question is IMM1344 question #9. I checked No on this since I believed that it reffered to people other than your current spouse, but now i have doubts. If I was required to check this how can I go get this item corrected? Is it too late to correct?

Yes, question 9 is referring to OTHER relationships, not your current relationship with your wife. Don't worry. The fact that you may or may not have been in a common-law or conjugal relationship before getting married is irrelevant. You are legally married now and that's all that matters. Though you would of course want to explain things in the details of how you met and how your relationship progressed etc.
