Hi,

I am sponsoring my spouse who lives in India and she is in the process of filling out IMM 5669.

She had applied for a US tourist visa about 5 years ago, and she was rejected the tourist visa.

So, we are confused about how to answer, we have to indicate yes or no to the questions below:

Question #6) Have you, or, if you are the principal applicant, and of your family members listed in your application for permanent residence in Canada, ever:

6d)been refused refugee status, an immigrant or permanent resident visa or visitor or temporary resident visa, to Canada or any other country?

6e) been refused admission to, or ordered to leave, Canada or any other country?

Please advise. I hope even if we answer 'Yes', it doesn't make the application weaker. Thank you.

You have no choice but to answer yes. If you answer no, it could be seen as misrepresentation and would be a big problem!

The correct answer will NOT negatively impact her PR application.

mark down yes that she was refused and explain why she applied on a separate sheet of paper thats what i did with my application, but it won't have any affect on your application, as long as you are truthful they will understand .. and it was 5 years ago so it shouldnt be a problem.

So, does she answer 'Yes' to both 6d and 6e ? Thank you for your response.

yup, answer yes to both because she was refused.

I would say 6E would be NO. Since she never got the visa in the first place to try and enter USA where at the border she was refused admisson or ordered to leave.

Thank you! We entered yes for 6d, and No for 6e :)

i have the same situation, how was her application? is it successful?
It doesn't matter the status of her case, you have to be 100% honest to answer all the questions truthfully. Don't even think about lying on this particular question about past VISA history, especially the refusals were from USA, UK, NZ and AUS, those countries share VISA records with Canada.

Hi ther i have exact same situation. This time it is for canada visitor visa. I have applied for spousal PR in sept and Visitor for canada in dec and now i have to resubmit the schedule A form due to typo error. But my representative is saying to answer yes D. Option because application of visitor is in process? But i m thinking it should be NO. As there is no answe yet. Any suggestions?
