Hi all,

I'm currently filling in my IMM 5669E form and would like to know what Canada Immigration classes as a diploma?

I have two degrees and a teaching certificate from educational institutions and consider these to be diplomas.

However, I also have attended courses and have certification from businesses such as Focus Training England. I believe this company is a business and not an educational institution such as a college or university. If this is the case would my certification from Focus Training be considered a diploma? (The course was a part-time course, I studied from home, attended a two day assessment and met the a specific grading criteria to pass).

Cheers,

Ste

It does get confusing. A degree is a degree, but they give you a diploma to show completion. Post-secondary diplomas in Canada are usually minimum 2 years at a tech school, college or uni. Anything less is a certificate.

have certification from businesses such as Focus Training England.
Certification? Definitely a certificate, imo.

a teaching certificate
You can get 2 year teaching diplomas and 1 year certificates, if it is the 1 year it would still be a certificate.
