Hi everyone,

I'm new here so I apologize in advance for any repeated questions.

I'm a Canadian citizen (from birth) living in the UK. I wish to sponsor my Lithuanian common-law partner. Once he (hopefully) gets his PR, we will go to Canada asap.

My question is on question 11 from IMM 5540 (Sponsorship Questionnaire). I cannot provide proof of my intention to re-establish in Canada based on any of the the given options: Job offer in Canada, Employment contract in Canada, Letter of acceptance by an educational institution in Canada, property rental agreement, property deed, mortgage on property, etc.

The only option I have I suppose is to check "Other" because I simply want to move back to Canada to be with my family and friends and start a life with my partner there. If I explain this in a letter, will this be good enough?

I do have an online job where I can work anywhere in the world (company based in US) so I suppose I could provide proof of this too?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sponsoring your spouse while living in another country

If you are a Canadian citizen, you can sponsor your spouse without being in Canada but you do then have to prove that you are planning on moving to Canada when your spouse gets approved for permanent residency. Such proof can include having arranged jobs, being accepted to college, having arranged housing or letters from friends & relatives stating that they know of your plans and that you can stay with them while you look for housing etc.

Found this on one of the threads so if you can secure this together with your application, i think you'd be fine.:)

Thank you! I'll be sure to get my friends and family to write letters for that.
