Hi all,

Hoping I can get some expertise here! My partner is currently finishing off her paperwork in order to sponsor me, and is currently stuck on IMM 5481.

Essentially, the form asks if you are UNEMPLOYED, EMPLOYED, or SELF EMPLOYED.

My parter stays at home with our child, but also minds other children during the day as her income.

We are trying to work out whether we should declare this as UNEMPLOYED - as she doesn't technically have an employer, or as SELF EMPLOYED as she is working for the money herself.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Since, she is getting money from children funds. I believe this is unemployed. Since she doesn't work. She needs to write a coverletter, how you are going to support the sposnor once he arrives in Canada

She's earning an income, therefore she cannot be unemployed. She is self-employed.

Does she actually declare this income and will it show on her Option C?

She is self employed if she is declaring this income, and unemployed if the money is under the table.

Lol, if it's under the table, she's still employed, just illegally.

She is self-employed. She is running a family home daycare.

Yes, she declares the income on her tax returns and it shows on her option C.

Guess I have my answer then! Thank you all!
