Hi, im a bit confused. I'm Canadian and sponsoring my wife. she filled out the IMM 5406 form, the question is do I also need to fill it out. It says that the principle applicants spouse needs to fill it out too. Do I need to fill it out if im sponsoring my wife, and if yes, do i put my name as the applicant in the one that i fill out?

Nope! Your info goes on line 2 as 'spouse' of the applicant, but that's all.

Only your wife fills it out. You don't. The confusing instructions are because this form is also used for people immigrating through other streams, who are not being sponsored. In that case, the principal applicant has to fill out the form, and so does his or her spouse - that is, both are immigrating.

So just double checking I DO NOT need to fill out my own with my family info?

No. She fills that form out. Like truesmile mentioned, your info goes on line 2.

Thanks a lot.

You seem to know so ill ask you.

I got fingerprints done for a FBI background check but the names dob etc are filled out in blue ink, they say it must be in black but only noticed afterwords. Do you think its an issue?

I believe mine were done in blue ink and I haven't had any issues with it. At least not so far.

That is correct.

I agree, this form is misleading, it states that the applicant, spouse and children MUST fill out there own copy of this form.
Well...no they don't. In the case that the spouse is the sponsor and the child isn't applying to get residency then they don't. Would it bebthat hard for them to write that as a sidenote to avoid confusion!

Also, for my case, all this information is provided at least once in other parts of the application. But then they go ahead request it again on this form! Weird data management.
