IMM 1294 doubts

Hello,
my name is Federico, I am applying for a study permit but I have some doubts regarding the IMM1294:

1) I do have a girlfriend, our relationship started 4 years ago. Is it considered a common-law relationship? we never lived in the same house, that's why I have doubts.

2) cost of my studies: I am starting a PhD in January, and it will last for 4 years. For instance, since my year tuition is 8.000$, I have to multiply all the values for 4 years (32.000$) ? I have a scolarship to pay my PhD, therefore "my expenses in Canada will be paid by" Other---> Scolarship (more in detail?)

3) I don't have to print, sign the document and scan it right?

Hello Federico,

1) On Wikipedia (when you google common-law relationship, there's a part about Ontario) it says that

"the requirements are living together for no less than three years[11] or having a child in common and having "cohabited in a relationship of some permanence"

.

Therefor, I don't think you should list her as your common-law partner.

2) I am not an expert, but I went through the IMM 1294 form recently while applying for Study Permit.

I think the Tuition means the full cost of your studies (all 4 years). That's what my agency told me while filling the form.

About the scholarship, I believe that's how you should do it. Other ---> Scholarship. Not sure about details.

3) In case you are going to apply online via MyCIC account, no, you don't have to print, sign or scan those.

Please I am in this same situation concern the IMM1294, could this be the total cost of tuition(all 4 yrs for a PhD), what if the scholarship for the PhD is not fully funded and part needs to be absorbed by the individual? How do I fill this section?

1. No, she isn't a common law partner as per the definition.
2. It has to be a scholarship (not something that you are going to earn as part of research) and you must attach a scholarship letter from school in detail. If not, show 1st year tuition + CAD 10,000 living expenses.
3. No, there will be a validation option along with one electronic signature option (to type your name) at the end.
