Hello everyone,

Sorry if these questions seem a bit stupid, I just want to be sure.

1 - The person I'm sponsoring is filling out IMM 0008 and we're wondering what we write for question #4 (immigration office requested for processing this application)? We are applying outland, so is it Singapore (she's from Indonesia) or do we write Canada?

2 - Question 7: Did you receive your CSQ if living in Quebec? We did not. Then it asks, if no, when did you apply. What if we didn't apply? I believe we only apply for a CSQ once we do the Quebec undertaking.

3 - When it asks status in question #10, it then asks the time period. Let's say it's 2008 - current, how do I put current in the "To" box? Do I just put today's date? What if I'm only sending out the application a month from now?

4 - I am sponsoring my spouse. What is the dependent's section for? Is that only if there are children involved? Because on the actual form it says that you must include your spouse if applicable. How is a spouse a dependent?

Thanks for the help!

1) where it asks which visa office will be processing it you would put singapore if you are applying outland. we put sydney as our as we are in canada but applying outland through sydney australia.

2)- not sure about quebec stuff sorry!

3) for the time periods this is what I did.... 2008- NOW ... i typed NOW into the box or if I was unable to when I printed it I wrote in NOW or CURRENT which i heard is fine

4) dependents are any dependent children or relatives that your spouse is bringing, My spouse has none, so we put N/A in all those sections

hope that helps a little bit good luck!

This is important for people who have a choice of visa offices (e.g., suppose she had lived in Australia for a couple of years and could pick Sydney or Singapore). But if her only choice is Singapore, it doesn't matter what you put here, it will end up in Singapore. Still, best to put the right office here to minimize the chance of confusion.

I must defer to others on this one, because I'm not sure how Quebec's immigration works.

I put the date I signed it in those boxes (although in the old days before the bar code I would hand write in "Present").

It's a generic form used for all classes of application. If this were an economic application, the primary applicant would list his/her spouse and children. For spousal without children you don't need to list anything here.

Good luck!

thanks for the tips! the CSQ part is confusing, so if anyone can chime in that would be great.

p.s. for the dependent's section, on the form you can click "remove section", so i guess if i'm the sponsor sponsoring my spouse (no children involved) then i can remove that part.

You'll apply for the selection certificate after receiving a letter from the CIC asking you to do so. I believe for both inland and outland applications, it'll be after they approve the sponsor's eligibility.

After applying for the CSQ, the MICC will mail one copy to you and one copy to directly to the CIC (the correspondence they send you should confirm this). The MICC is generally quick at processing the applications, and I think most people receive them in a few weeks.

As far as filling out the date for when you applied for it, I don't recall whether we just left it blank or whether there numbers you type into the electronic form to indicate that it's not applicable.

Hi

As for Quebec, we were in the same boat. We put NA in those boxes since we knew we would not apply for the CSQ until after CIC confirmed I was eligible to sponsor. Our application was approved, so seems like it worked out fine! When CIC sent me the letter of approval it said to now continue the application process with the MICC, and now I am waiting for both the CSQ and the Undertaking agreement.

I've heard that in other application types (NOT family), you have to apply with Quebec first, so perhaps those fields are there for those people. But it is clear on the CIC website and the MICC website that if you are sponsoring your family, you have to do those applications afterwards. So that's what we went with.

Hope it helps!

When I'm reading this I suddenly wonder....

We just received the sponsorship approval from the CIC, and the same letter said that we could start with the Quebec part (applying for CSQ etc). Now this Monday I will visit my boyfriend (sponsor) in Montreal for 2 months. And this week we will also send the forms to the MICC.
Now I read here that they process these applications pretty fast, and then they will send a copy to me and to the CIC. Do they send it by email? Or by snailmail?
Because if they send it snailmail (to my home adress in the Netherlands) I wont be there until November 12th.
How do they normally do this?

Hi REMROV,

From what I understand, they send a copy to CIC, and a copy to the sponsor (your boyfriend). He is to keep the original copy with him in Quebec at all times. It is only with this original that you can get certain things here in Quebec when you arrive for good. He should however, give you a photocopy of the CSQ document, as you will need to show this to get your visa and to leave the country.

We just put the occupation my husband hopes to get. We wrote "trade" because he'll probably end up doing a trade program and going into that, but we didn't specify actually which trade. I don't think it's overly important.
