IMM 0008 confusion

Hi all,

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't seem to find an answer. So apologies!

My wife is Canadian and I'm British. I have no children and I am not bringing anyone with me. I'm getting to the 'dependants' section of the form and common sense tells me to leave it blank. However, it says "you must include all family members whether they are accompanying you to Canada or not. You must include your spouse or common-law partner... "

As she is the one sponsoring me, she's already a Canadian citizen. I find 'reason why dependant is non-accompanying', and 'Intended Occupation' strange to answer. What do I do?

Same situation. I listed no defendants on this form. Do note that this form is "Generic Application Form for Canada", and the notes in the guide say you "must include your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable…".

That's what is so confusing. I caught between filling it out anyway (it's better to give too much info than too little, right?) and leaving it blank because it's pretty obvious from our application that we're married and she's sponsoring me as a Citizen? hmmmmmm

If you are doing it online there should be nothing to leave blank, just don't hit the "add" button. If you are doing it by hand I suggest doing it online so you can validate it.

Definitely do not fill it out if you have no dependants.

I was doing it online last night. There was one set of boxes to fill in for dependants and then a box for 'add dependant'. Should I just try to delete the first 'dependant' so that it doesnt list any at all?

We have no kids at all. She'll be in Canada and I'll be in the UK (I'm over visiting at the moment). I wouldn't class her as a dependant but it says 'you must list your spouse...', but my spouse is my sponsor?!

Yes - I have no kids, so I deleted the dependants' part.
This form is generic for other kinds of application.

Since she is the sponsor you do not need to put her in that dependents section. It's confusing because IMM 0008 is used for almost every type of immigration to Canada, so it's a generic form. This means that it doesn't really fit or make sense with the sponsorship application, but you need to fill it out anyway. It says fill out spouse if applicable, but since she is the sponsor, she is not applicable.
