Hi guys!
I applied for my PR in September 2017 (spouse sponsorship), which is supposed to be ready in September 2018, but since I had my Working holiday work permit (valid until July 2018), I didn't request an open work permit with it.

Today I have a fulltime job, and I thought - someone told me:
  • if I didn't leave the country between July (when my working holiday permit expires) and my PR acceptation
  • Then, my work permit was going to get extended automatically until my situation is resolved, but now I'm scared that that is not the case.

Can anybody tell me what should I do to keep working at my company while I wait for my PR acceptance??

Processing Status: I did my medical exams two weeks ago and currently waiting for the next steps.

Your work permit is certainly not going to be automatically extended. As of now, you must stop working as soon as your IEC expires (unless you are officially a PR by then).

Did you apply inland or outland?

I applied inland!

You should submit an open work permit application as soon as possible. It will take anywhere from 2-4 months for the OWP to be approved.

Note that the OWP must be approved before your IEC expires if you want to continue working without interruption. If the IEC expires before your OWP is approved, you'll need to stop working and wait for the OWP to be approved before you start agian.

It's a shame you didn't submit an OWP with the original inland application package.
