Im from Venezuela I need asylum

Hi, I'm from Venezuela, I'm looking for asylum or refuge in Canada. I'm with my 4 children, all minors. I do not have a Canadian visa. They told me I could enter the Toronto border and start my process. I do not have family back in Canada. Is it correct as I will do?
